Committee
Objective:
To
increase the knowledge of the future leaders of our community through a
9-month program covering all aspects of our community. Upon graduation,
members serve as a growing leadership base for the Chamber and the
community as a whole.
Committee
Accomplishments:
- Coordinates
a 9-month curriculum involving leaders from the community, skits,
role models, facilitators, demonstrations, etc.
- Coordinates
Alumni Program encouraging all class graduates to stay involved in
the program.
- Emphasizes
civic volunteerism by encouraging class members to volunteer for 25
community service hours before graduation.

This
program offers skills training and idea experimentation which has
created an attitude receptive to new approaches and ideas I the
study of all issues within our community.
- Challenges
each graduating class to come up with a project that will help the
community. Last year, Class VII created a speaker’s bureau list.

The
class also worked together to complete the landscaping of the Habitat for
Humanity homes.
Who?
Businesses, public agencies and civic organizations are asked to submit names of potential participants to the Leadership Aransas County Selection Committee.
The Committee is seeking representation from a cross-section of the county, which will include community leaders and potential community leaders active in business, education, the arts, religion, government, law enforcement, community-based organizations, ethnic and/or minority groups and professional organizations.
What?
Leadership Aransas County is a program offering skills training and idea
experimentation which will create an attitude receptive to new
approaches and adventure in the study of Aransas County issues. The
graduate of LAC should have the strongest potential for future
leadership and will have the capability of contributing greatly to
Aransas County through their continued service in the Chamber of
Commerce, city and county government and many other worthy endeavors.
When?
The Selection Committee will select (through a application process) a minimum of 15 participants for the program session. During the month of September an announcement and meeting of all the participants will be held.
Where?
All sessions are held in different locations throughout the community.

by the Chamber office at 404 Broadway to pick one up!
The information included in the application will be considered confidential and will be reviewed only by the Selection Committee. All applications will be destroyed after the class has been selected.
Since the number of participants is limited, applicants who are not selected are encouraged to reapply in subsequent years.
Attendance:
Attendance at the orientation, opening retreat and graduation for all
classes members is mandatory. More than one absence from the class sessions will result in the participant being automatically dropped from the program and no portion of the tuition shall be refunded. Arriving late and leaving early will not be tolerated and will be considered an absence from the session.
Limited scholarship funds are available for those who inquire.
Dress is to be business attire unless otherwise noted on the day's agenda.
Prior to each session, a homework assignment is given. The homework assignments are designed to expand the knowledge of participants. Homework may or may not be reviewed in each session.
