U. S. Chamber Accreditation
ROCKPORT-FULTON AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
AWARDED WITH 4-STAR ACCREDITATION
FROM U.S. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
The Rockport-Fulton Area Chamber of Commerce constantly strives to provide the best programs and activities to improve business and build a better community. Over the past year, we went through an extensive self-review as part of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Accreditation Program.
We are pleased to announce that on June 7, 2005 the U.S. Chamber awarded the Rockport-Fulton Area Chamber of Commerce with 4-Star Accreditation. After the lengthy process, we were one of eleven chambers of commerce to receive this prestigious designation while 32 received some level of accreditation.
What does accreditation mean? Accreditation means that our chamber of commerce is recognized by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as offering quality programs, practicing sound organization procedures, and reliably contributing to positive change in the community.
In order to receive accreditation, we had to demonstrate competency in the following areas: governance, finance, human resources, government affairs, program development, communication, technology, and facilities.
As part of the process, the U.S. Chamber provides specific feedback based on how to improve the organization. As a result of the Accreditation Program, our Chamber will be able to fine tune and bring our organization to the next level.
The Accreditation Examining Committee of the U.S. Chamber noted the following in their closing statements “The Rockport-Fulton Area Chamber of Commerce has some very strong areas and should be commended for its new member recruitment efforts. Overall, this Chamber is doing an excellent job and we at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce are proud to accredit the Rockport-Fulton Area Chamber with our Four-Star Ranking. Congratulations!”
Since 1964, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce has invited state and local chambers of commerce to participate in its Accreditation Program. The program was designed to stimulate a continuous self-analysis of an organization’s growth and development with an opportunity to reassess its objectives, organization resources, program of work, procedures, and achievements.
